THE APOSTOLIC JOHANNITE CHURCH The Apostolic Johannite Church is Gnostic and Apostolic, holding all extant lines of Apostolic Succession; continuing the Johannite Gnostic Christian Tradition handed down directly from the Apostle John, called by Our Lord Beloved a Tradition continued from the early Johannite Community in Asia Minor between 90-100AD. This Tradition and its exponents have manifested in different forms through out the whole of Gnostic Christianity, and continues within our Church today. We are a Church of acceptance rather than mere tolerance, we hold the individual conscience in high respect, and our Sacraments are open to all. The Apostolic Johannite Church has Parishes, Clergy, and Study Groups across North America. Johannite Spirituality has always been about personal freedom - Clergy are facilitators and teachers, not mediators and ecclesiastical lords. Since the earliest times of Christianity, Johannite Spirituality has always stood as a mark of personal and spiritual understanding. We do not seek converts, we do not proselytise, we are not a Church reserved for a 'select few' or a Church of 'Initiates', though we have many Esoteric initiates of all stripes in our congregations and clergy. We make no claims to being the sole determinant of the "Gnosticity" of other Gnostic Churches and do not engage in the practice of recognition or non-recognition for political reasons, which is the antithesis of Gnostic Spirituality. Rather, historically, we have allied ourselves with those Gnostic Churches that have, in practice, shown themselves to adhere to these same principles. We recognize the plurality of Gnostic thought and hold that constructive diversity is the field in which the seeds of Gnosis grow best. While our worship is structured around a particular theological model, this model is not binding on those that wish to worship within our Sanctuaries.
